PFIZER COVID-19 VACCINE PROVIDES POWERFUL IMMUNE RESPONSE FOR 12 TO 15 YEARS OLD

 

The Company had announced that The Pfizer/Biotech Covid-19 vaccine is highly effective for 12 to 15 years teenagers.

The children who got vaccines under trial period, they developed strong antibodies and there were no serious side effects. 

 

There are 2260 participants and around half of the participants got two doses of vaccine and the other half received placebo injections so the final conclusion is there were 18 cases of Covid-19 found in the placebo group but none of the cases found in the vaccine group. 

 

As per study, the vaccine was 100% effective in this age group so the study is with a small group but it is difficult to say for a larger group of people but it is good that there were zero cases among all vaccinated people said by Angela Rasmussen, The New York Times. 

 

The company also said that there are high levels of Antibodies between 12 to 15 years group and other groups between 16 to 25 years has also high level antibodies after the second dose of the vaccine.

Now, the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is authorized for groups of 16 to 25 years and the company plans to ask the Food and Drug Administration department to expand the authorization and allow it for 12 to 15 years.

 

Albert Bourla, the CEO of Pfizer said in the press release that the company hopes that this group can be vaccinated before the next school year.

 

There is a need of vaccination in the children and teenagers in order to reach herd immunity to protect people from Covid-19. As per current study children rarely get affected from the diseases but they can be sick and having some symptoms so they can also contract and spread the virus.

 

There is a clinical trial by Pfizer and BioNTech among children between 6 Months to 11 Years Old. 

The Modrena is also testing its vaccine between 12 to 17 years old and also in children between 6 Months to 11 years Old. 

The Johnson & Johnson is also authorized for 18 years and older groups of people and trying for younger people as well.
